Photoshoot with R2D2

Back in November 2013, I was invited by a local photographer named Glyn Harper to do a photoshoot together! It's nice to do shoots locally, so I said I'd love to. He pitched the idea of a Star Wars themed shoot to me, which I was really excited about!

We were able to do the shoot in the Isle of Man Incinerator. It's probably the coolest building on the island, and looks a little bit like the Loch Ness Monster. It was also used as the hi-tech headquarters in the movie Stormbreaker, based off the novel by Anthony Horowitz.

You can see the amazing model of R2D2 in this photograph! My companion model was remote controlled, talks, and lights up. He was actually 100% built by the photographer.

I styled my own outfit for the shoot from my closet. I was given the brief 'Jedi', so I tried to come up with something the best I could! I wore a black sweater underneath a crushed velvet body, and pulled the sweater up around the neck to create a faux-hood. I paired it with a waterfall skirt from TopShop, black tights, and my black studded lita-style boots.

The main shot we tried to recreate was the iconic scene with Princess Leia and R2D2 in the corridor.

We used a smoke machine for some of the shots, provided by the incinerator staff! However, they must have forgotten to isolate our area, as the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate the building :( It was worth it though- the smoke really makes some of the shots.

I hope you enjoyed this blogpost ♥ I want to give a big thank you to Glyn, Warren, and the incinerator staff for making this shoot possible!
